Cleaning to protect the sculptures

Within the context of the renovation work at Freiburg Cathedral, Kärcher provided support with the creation of a cleaning concept and the loan of four Professional wet and dry vacuum cleaners. A cleaning expert trained responsible restorers in the use of the equipment, so that they could free the groups of figures in the lobby from dust.

Cleaning became necessary, since a lot of dust had settled on the sculptures over time. This dust can be stirred up, after which it solidifies by absorption of air humidity, thereby damaging the surface in the long term. The automatic filter cleaning of the vacuum cleaners NT 30/1 Tact Te L allows the collection of large quantities of fine dust, yet without having to interrupt work.
